Point Blur contains ads, and its data safety section says it collects device IDs, approximate location and app interactions for analytics and advertising. Smudge has no ads and no tracking of our own.
A blackout bar
Smudge's Blackout style covers a detail with a solid bar. For a card number, that's the safest choice, because there's nothing underneath.
Blur that holds up better
Ordinary blur and pixelation can sometimes be reversed: tools like Unredacter rebuild pixelated text in the right conditions. Smudge mixes random noise into every block it blurs or pixelates to stop that kind of matching, and its Blackout style leaves nothing underneath at all.
